When the founders of our great nation debated what form our federal government should take they agreed that it should not be a democarcy. They understood that a democracy was nothing more than mob rule. By ratifying the United States Constitution they instead created the government as a representative republic.
The purpose of the constitution is to protect the rights of the people and limit the powers of the federal government. Sadly, most Americans do not understand this.

Strong and bitter words indicate a weak cause.
We've got to have civil discussions if we truly care about sharing ideas. Talking heads yelling at each other is barely watchable on TV; it's stupid in discussion based blogging. (Credit for the quote goes to tonight's fortune cookie.)
